What Is It?
Immunocal is a patented nutritional supplement. It is defined in the Physician’s Desk Reference,(PDR) where it is listed, as a nutraceutical, which is a food with medicinal value.
Specifically, it states that Immunocal is “a U.S. patented natural food protein concentrate in the FDA category of GRAS (generally recognized as safe) which assists the body in maintaining optimal concentrations of glutathione (GSH) by supplying the precursors required for intracellular glutathione synthesis. It is clinically proven to raise glutathione values.”
It is made from
undenatured whey protein
and is rich in an amino acid necessary for glutathione production called bonded cysteine.
As such, I will use the term "undenatured whey protein" and "Immunocal" interchangeably on this page.
Well, that's a lot of information. Before we break it all down, we would like to give those that would like to see the PDR listing in it's entirely that opportunity.
If you would like to read the entire PDR listing for Immunocal, which we will be referring to throughout this page, please click
If you didn’t have glutathione in your cells right now, you would be dead!
Is undenatured whey protein the only way to raise glutathione?
No, it is not the only way. For all the ways known, researched, and proven to raise glutathione, along with minerals that are necessary to go with Immunocal, please read the page
“How to raise glutathione”.
Undenatured whey protein and the over the counter drug N-Acetyl-Cysteine are the two best researched ways to raise glutathione at this time.
Immunocal has been researched for over 30 years, has 26 published medical studies, and numerous international patents assuring that it will indeed raise your glutathione levels.
N-Acetyl-cysteine, or NAC, has been used in emergency medicine for years to treat acetaminophen overdose. It may be purchased in much smaller doses at a health food store. See
“Glutathione Side Effects”
for a list of possible warnings and side effects with each of these treatments.
Can I just take a glutathione pill?
You can, but it will not raise your glutathione levels. Please see
for a complete explanation along with supporting medical evidence on this subject.
Who makes this undenatured whey protein?
Immunocal is manufactured as a pharmaceutical grade protein by Immunotec Research and Marketing Company, and they have been manufacturing the product since 1996.
We are independent consultants for this product, and we have formed our own health consulting company and this website to further educate others about the benefits of glutathione and undenatured whey protein.
If you respect your doctor, you can print up the PDR listing and the medical studies that name Immunocal and ask him what he thinks. By the way, all the drugs that your doctor can prescribe are listed in this same book along with this undenatured whey protein.

Immunocal is listed in the PDR in the United States and the CPS in Canada. For a brief explanation of what the PDR and CPS are, and what a listing in these books means, please see this brief 2 minute video by Dr. Jimmy Gutman and John Molson here:
Can’t I just buy this at a health food store?
It is possible that you will find a consultant who happens to work at a health food store that can provide it for you, but you will not find it on the shelves of any store anywhere.
Immunocal is sold exclusively through its network of independent consultants, some of which are medical professionals, personal trainers, or health food store owners. Immunocal is distributed through direct person to person referral.
Who cannot take this product?
Very few people. Specifically, those that are undergoing immunosuppressive therapy due to an organ transplant and those that are allergic to specific milk proteins should not take this product.
The proteins in this product are albumin, lactoferrin, and lactalbumin. If you were allergic to your mother's breast milk as a baby, you may have this rare protein allergy.
Please see the page
“Glutathione Side Effects”
for a complete listing of contraindications, precautions, warnings, and adverse reactions to be considered before taking this supplement. These categories are all taken directly from the PDR listing.
How do I know it works?
Immunocal is backed by over 30 years of research and 75 International Patents, and an unconditional 30 day money back guarantee. You can access PubMed and the US Patent Office on this
For more information on research, how it's conducted, and what's involved, please watch this brief 2 minute interview with Dr. Jimmy Gutman and his assistant John Molson:
Who should take this supplement?
Excepting the above, everyone! If you are healthy, you need high glutathione levels to stay healthy. If you are sick, you need high glutathione levels to bring your cells back to a state of optimal health.
The PDR listing specifically mentions taking Immunocal “ as a strategy developed to address states of glutathione deficiency... Glutathione deficiency states include, but are not limited to :
infectious hepatitis, certain types of cancers, cataracts, Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, radiation,
poisoning by acetaminophen
and related agents, malnutritive states, arduous physical stress, aging, and has been associated with sub-optimal immune response.”
So if you fit into one of these categories, you should give special attention to raising your glutathione levels with this undenatured whey protein.
Do I need a prescription for this?
No. Immunocal is available with and without a prescription. You can go to your local drug store and order it over the counter right now, but it will be more expensive than a consultant can provide it for you.
I am on several different medications. Are there any drug interactions with Immunocal?
No. It is a food, and as such, may be taken safely with any and all medications. Consult the PDR listing for more details. We have a retail price for a one time try, and a discount is offered to those who wish to obtain this supplement each month on a convenient auto ship arrangement.
What if I am lactose intolerant?
The lactose has been removed from the product, as well as the casein and fat. All that remains are the highly bioactive cysteine-rich proteins albumin, lactalbumin, and lactoferrin. The PDR states that it “contains less than 1% lactose and therefore is generally well tolerated by lactose-intolerant individuals."
What if I am allergic to all dairy products?
It is important to know the difference between a lactose intolerance, which may be manifest by diarrhea, bloating, and cramps, and a true milk protein allergy. Those who have a specific milk protein allergy, which means they are allergic to albumin, lactalbumin, and/or lactoferrin, would know this by an allergic reaction such as breaking out in hives. If you were able to breastfeed as an infant, you are not allergic to milk protein and can safely take this.
How is it packaged?
It comes shipped to you directly from the company in a box. Each box contains 30 individually sealed pouches, which preserves its effectiveness.
Inside the pouch you will find a light, odorless, almost tasteless powder. If you are taking one pouch a day, you would order one box a month. If you were taking two pouches a day, you would order two boxes a month and so on.
How much do I need to take?
This depends on your health condition and weight, so we would be happy to assist you in determining the best dosage for your particular condition. Some take one a day, and those with advanced disease states such as Stage 4 of cancer may take up to 8 or 10 pouches a day. Contact us to determine what is best for you, as you likely fall somewhere in between.
What does this undenatured whey protein taste like, and how do I take it?
Since it is made from milk, some say it reminds them of a milky substance when reconstituted. It takes on the flavor of whatever you mix it with. Since it is a dry powder, it needs to be mixed with a liquid or food, and then you can simply drink it down or eat it.
How often should I take it?
For best results, you should take this supplement every day, just like you drink fresh water, eat healthy food, get your proper rest and exercise, and take a multivitamin every day. It is food for your cells.
How do I mix it?
A special shaker cup comes in your first box. You can put one ounce of your favorite beverage in the cup, cut open a pouch and drop it in, cover and shake vigorously for about 10 seconds. It turns to a creamy consistency, and you may add more liquid before drinking it down. Others prefer to stir it into their food, like oatmeal or cereal, which is fine. You can even stir it into instant pudding mix and have it in your pudding!
Here is a video that also shows you how to mix it with a small amount of liquid in a shaker cup:
What should I NOT do with Immunocal?
Since it is bioactive, the delicate sulfur bond holding the cysteine molecules together can be destroyed, making it ineffective. So do not put it in a mechanical blender, and do not mix it with hot beverages.
This won’t hurt you, but will make the product ineffective. Additionally, if you normally eat a high protein meal around the same time, it would be best to wait a half hour or so before the meal, giving it plenty of time to be absorbed. Many take Immunocal, one or two pouches at a time, first thing on an empty stomach. Taking more than two pouches at a time is not recommended, since the body cannot digest more than two pouches worth of protein at a time.
Can you overdose on Immunocal?
According to the PDR, overdosing on Immunocal has not been reported. This is because glutathione regulation is very tightly regulated by the cell, and the cell will not make more glutathione than it needs. So if you take more product than you need, the raw materials are stored in your liver and kidneys and released when you need them.
What is whey protein isolate?
You will find the terms whey protein isolate and whey protein concentrate used interchangeably in the PDR description. Many wonder what the difference is.
When Immunocal was first patented and researched over 30 years ago, it was classified as a whey protein concentrate. At the time, the term whey protein isolate had not begun to be used yet, as the field was relatively new. As time went on, though, a more specific type of whey protein concentrate began to be referred to as whey protein isolate, which by definition is at least 90% protein by composition.
This term more specifically applied to this product, and as such, the new term began to be used. But one is not wrong or right, in fact one is just more specific than the other. All whey protein isolates are also concentrates, but not all whey protein concentrates are isolates. The isolate has a higher percentage of protein by weight.
Bioactivity refers to the amount of essential branched chain amino acids (BCAA) a product contains. Because of the high amount of these amino acids in Immunocal, it has a very high biological value.
If this has been around since 1996, and it works so well, why haven’t I heard of it before?
Well, you are hearing about it now. Much has to do with the way it has been marketed. Since it is distributed via a person to person approach, you won’t hear about this on the television, radio, or newspaper, at least for now. You probably heard about through a friend, which is how we would like for you to hear about it, and not from some slick salesman. This way we can provide you with excellent one on one customer service.
Glutathione is not yet a household word, and most people are not yet aware of the tremendous benefits that come from raising their glutathione levels. But this is quickly changing as they experience the benefits themselves personally.
How much does it cost?
Generally speaking, between $2 - $3 a pouch. It is sold by the 30 pouch box. It is $104 a box Retail, and $83.20 a box for Autoship customers. Applicable tax and shipping are added to your order.
If I like this product and I want to share this with others, can I get an additional discount on my product?
Yes, in fact, many consultants get their product for free as a result of sharing this with those that they know will benefit. We can explain this to you further.
Please keep in mind that Immunocal is made by a very special process, and is quite expensive to make. Millions of dollars have been spent on research to bring it to market and assure you that it is safe and effective for you, the consumer.
How much is an investment in your health worth to you? Many routinely spend $2-3 a day or more on energy drinks, coffee beverages, sodas, and fast food, and gain no benefit to their health from these purchases. In fact, they may have just the opposite effect if consumed every day!
This is an investment in your health, for the rest of your life. How much is your health and life worth to you?
