Are Glutathione supplements really the best form of antioxidants?

Answer:

Glutathione is not well absorbed when taken in oral form. The best ways to raise glutathione are by taking the precursors.

When it comes to antioxidants, glutathione is the mother of all antioxidants, and has correctly been termed the Master Antioxidant as it recycles all others that you take in and makes them work longer.

So keeping your glutathione levels high is really the best form of antioxidant protection.

The two best studied ways of raising glutathione are with forms of cysteine, N-Acetyl-cysteine (NAC), and the nutriceutical bonded cysteine Immunocal.

N-acetyl-cysteine has been used for years in emergency medicine. Immunocal has been clinically studied for over 30 years, comes up by name 11 times on PubMed, and is the subject of 27 published studies there.

Both NAC and Immunocal will raise your glutathione levels.

One is a drug with potentially toxic side effects and the other is a medicinal food without toxic side effects and can be taken by all ages. N-acetyl-cysteine is not recommended for infants, children, and pregnant or lactating mothers.
