What is the skin bleaching dose of Immunocal?

I have friends who have successfully used glutathione for skin whitening. But your site does not seem to support the idea. I am considering using it primarily for its bleaching effect. Does your product achieve this benefit?

Answer:

My site is based entirely on published research. According to published research thus far, and the experience of myself and those I know, Immunocal does not whiten or bleach your skin.

Immunocal raises glutathione. The benefits of glutathione are explained here.

If you have friends that have successfully used glutathione for skin whitening, perhaps asking them what they used and how they used it would be a good idea. It is possible that whatever they used had something else in it other than glutathione.

It is always a good idea to approach the idea of skin lightening or bleaching with caution. Notice what the "Awake!" magazine has to say in its May 2010 issue on page 10:

"Some people use skin-lightening creams that contain hydroquinone, a bleaching agent that suppresses the production of melanin, thus reducing the skin's natural protection against damaging ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Hydroquinone penetrates the skin and may cause irreversible damage to connective tissue. A result is premature aging. The chemical may also be cancer-causing. Other creams contain mercury, which is another toxin.

Furthermore, continuous use of such products can cause disfiguring rashes, unsightly blotches, and skin so weakened that it cannot be stitched if cut. And if the chemicals in some of these cosmetics are absorbed into the bloodstream, they can damage the liver, the kidneys, or the brain- even causing organ failure."

What Immunocal will do is raise the level of glutathione in each and every one of your cells. This actually protects your organs, especially your liver, kidneys, and brain. I have been raising my glutathione levels for 4 years now and my skin is not any lighter. I also have dozens of friends in the same situation, and they have not had any skin lightening effect.

Glutathione will protect your cells from oxidation due to radiation and sun exposure, though, and you may experience a level of sun protection if your glutathione levels are high that would be similar to the effect of wearing sunscreen.

The product sold at the website you mention contains the following ingredients: oral glutathione, Vitamins C, E, Alpha-Lipoic Acid, and Grapeseed Extract. Some of these ingredients will raise your glutathione levels, some do nothing, and others are co-factors.
