Is Taking 2000 mg Of Glutathione Safe?

Hi, I am wondering is taking 2000mg of glutathione along with 1000mg of vitamin C a day is safe. I have really bad acne scars and hyperpigmentation from playing football and baseball in the sun. So I did research, and some people are selling skin whitening pills with mainly glutathione. They recommend taking it with Vitamin C.

So rather than buying these pills, I thought I could go to GNC and get glutathione pills. I know it's good for you, as it is an antioxidant. I don't want to buy expensive pills which are made in the Philippines, as there is no way to know if they are safe to take. So is it safe doing this?

Answer:

Taking 2,000mg of Glutathione is safe, as it will be destoyed in your gut.

Taking 1,000 mg of Vitamin C a day is safe, and Vitamin C is widely recognized for many benefits, including being a potent antioxidant and necessary co-factor for glutathione production.

However, taking a pill with glutathione and Vitamin C alone will not raise your glutathione. You need to take the precursors and co-factors together. You can learn more here about glutathione pills here, and how to raise glutathione along with co-factors here.

So is this safe? Yes. Is it effective in whitening your skin, reduction of scars, or hyperpigmentation? No.
